Our commitments

In 2008, SUEZ began structuring and managing our sustainable development policy using a series of road maps. Our road map for 2017-2021 comprises a social pillar built around four key commitments:

  • Taking action for equal opportunity
  • Boosting employee commitment and quality of life in the workplace
  • Contributing to a responsible economy through local employment and local development
  • Co-building solutions and opening up dialogue with all stakeholders
Our actions

A structured approach

Our ‘Equal opportunities – social development – commitment’ diversity program provides a framework for our goals, both in France and worldwide. It focuses on several key themes with objectives adapted to localised cultural and legal contexts:

  • Young people: apprenticeships, internships, training, mentoring and tailored integration programs
  • Deprived or underemployed community members: personalised professional preparation programs, job training and integration and startup programs
  • Disability policy: assisting disabled workers to remain in employment, customising work stations, special partnerships, policy to purchase from ESAT and EA assisted employment centres and creating indirect jobs
  • Older employees: recruiting candidates aged over 50 and creating skill and expertise transfer programs
  • Commitment surveys for all employees: analysis of results and development of action plans
  • Quality of life in the workplace: health and safety at work, preventing psychosocial risks and improved policies for working parents
  • Shared focus across companies within our Group on developing gender equality: gender diversity in job roles, equal pay, equal access to career management and training. This policy is supported by specific programs such as mentoring and coaching.
