Safety and compliance

Our commitment to the health and safety of our customers, employees and the communities we operate in is at the very heart of our business. We embed this every day into our systems and culture, and empower our people to maintain best-practice standards of workplace safety and environmental management.
Our core value

Safety isn’t just our responsibility, it’s our promise

SUEZ has the systems in place to ensure we operate our business in the safest and most environmentally responsible way possible, for the benefit of our workforce, customers, the community and the environment.

We believe that workplace accidents are preventable. Ensuring our people understand and are fully supported in safety is key, and we deliver ongoing training and competency development so that everyone can complete every task safely and proactively identify potential hazards, risks and harm to people and the environment.

SUEZ’s specialised Environment, Quality and Safety team works across all levels of our business, providing strong and accountable leadership in our drive to uphold industry-leading standards of safety and compliance in everything we do.

Our integrated management system is externally accredited to AS 4801, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and we hold NHVAS – Maintenance Management certification in applicable areas of our operations. We’re continuously improving our policies, procedures and processes to meet and exceed both Australian and international standards and make sure everyone comes home safely each day.

Out on the road

Keeping everyone safe on the move

With so many vehicles at work in communities right across Australia, keeping our vehicles and drivers operating as safely as possible is a top priority.

We take all reasonable steps to ensure that our heavy vehicle drivers respect and act within all road transport laws. Each driver receives thorough training in safe operating procedures and requirements for a wide range of everyday and unusual situations, from reversing and overhead caution to rollover prevention and inappropriate waste collection.

As part of our comprehensive Road Safety Management System, all our vehicles are serviced and inspected regularly. Our collection vehicles are fitted with on-board smart technologies to monitor driver behaviour for ongoing improvement of safety and performance.
